Maine Medical Partners moved into an existing building in 2000. After undergoing organizational redesign, including a name change, it was time to update their facility to reflect the new organization. They also had an option to acquire approximately 4,000 additional square feet and wanted to know how to best use that space. Our analysis, which included interviewing senior managers and select staff, as well as a company-wide survey of all employees, showed there were several areas where minor changes could be implemented that would create better work flow between departments. Additionally, the entry, reception area and conference room were too small to acommodate large gatherings of employees from other practices, who would gather once every few months for agency-wide meetings. The proposed plan shows better adjacencies for related departments as well as more adequately-sized meeting rooms and reception area.
